Yankees Vs Phillies World Series Preview

Batting Cages Direct

By Ken McCormick

Two baseball powerhouses are meeting up in the Fall classic, making this World Series destined to be a special one. The New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies both came into the 2009 season with very high expectations.

The Yankees had signed some major names to the team's roster, including the likes of ace pitcher CC Sabathia and another premier pitcher in AJ Burnett. Hitting additions like Mark Teixeira and Nick Swisher also added to the depth of the team's bats.

This combined with a new stadium led the Yankees to believe that this was the year that things would be different. And it was for New York.

In Philadelphia, the team had a World Series to defend, and some major additions to the pitching staff, notably Cliff Lee and Pedro Martinez, made it seem that Philadelphia was destined for another World Series appearance.

The bats in Philadelphia are no joke either. With Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, and a handful of other big names, this team sure knows how to hit the ball.

This is going to be a really interesting World Series. No one's quite sure as to whether it'll come down to great hitting (which both teams are capable of) in the end, or great pitching.

Personally, I believe that we're in for some high scoring affairs, and it should be really entertaining to watch these two teams battling it out night after night.

The Yankees might be slightly favored because of their regular season consistency and their big roster names, but the Phillies can't be counted out by any means. This was a team that started out relatively slow last year, and got hot to close out the season. This all led to a World Series in the end.

This World Series will be really exciting to watch. With no heavy favorite, fans will look for any clues they can get early and often.
