Commercial Batting Cages

Commercial Batting Cages
By guest author: Jason Gluckman

Batting cages are mostly used by baseball or softball coaches and players for practice. Commercial batting cages have more than one batting cage, a feature that enables more than one team to practice at a time.

Commercial batting cages provide batting practice at hourly and daily rates. Movable and permanent commercial batting cages are available. Both indoor and outdoor commercial batting cages are found. Commercial batting cages do not require a permanent construction.

The netting and frame are both important features of a commercial batting cage. Black steel frame with powder coating is used for frames. This coating helps the poles to resist outdoor elements. Manufacturers adequately test the materials for strength and durability. KVX200tm netting is used in a commercial batting cage. The netting material is lightweight, water resistant, and refuses to shrink, fade, or break down in direct sunlight. Commercial batting cages are used frequently, so durability is a primary factor in construction.

Pitching machines are used in commercial batting cages. The automatic retrieval system is expandable to accommodate up to nine baseball and eight softball machines. A coin- or token-operated pitching machine with a selectable number of pitches may also be used. The flooring in a commercial batting cage is polypropylene. This flooring material is stretchable and attached to the net. Dense foam padding is wrapped around the framing near all impact areas. Each cage operates independently. The cages can be arranged according to the space.

In commercial batting cages, there are trainers to guide the players. A commercial batting cage has all the accessories for softball or baseball. There is no need to bring a bat or ball to the field. The earnings from a commercial batting cage are sufficient for its maintenance. A safety light system is another feature of commercial batting cages. The automatic loading system in commercial batting cages provides automatic loading and eliminates ball jamming to ensure a constant flow of balls to the player.

Types of Batting Cages

Types of Batting Cages
By guest author: Andy Brock

Are you planning to buy a batting cage for your child to practice baseball? Or are you planning to buy it for yourself? Before you go to any shops that sell sporting equipment and decide to buy for one, you have to first know your options. There are several kinds of cages depending on the style or design and the function. Here are the most popular kinds.

The first type of batting cage is one with flat and even flooring and non-automated features. This means you have to pick up the baseballs that have been hit by the batter. This is quite tiring and a waste of time and energy. So if you do not want to spend so much time picking up baseballs and you just want to focus on your batting skills, then do not choose this style. This is probably fine for kids who just want to play baseball in their backyard.
Batting cages also have sloped flooring and an automated feature. This is more convenient than the previous type. This design allows you to concentrate more on batting and polishing your skills than gathering all the scattered balls inside the cage. The floor is uneven-higher on one side-which makes all the balls roll over to the lower side which can be easily gathered for pitching.
Another type is the batting cage that is both mechanical and automated. If the sloped cage uses the law of gravity to gather balls in one place, this style uses a mechanical conveyor belt that brings all the baseballs together on one area and will be automatically placed inside the pitching machine. This is of course the most convenient but probably the most expensive.
The next kind of batting cage is determined by the function. The softball batting cage is used for light practice and for children who play in the little leagues. The net is typically made from light materials fit for baseballs hit by little leaguers. These are the ones that you can install in your backyard.
If you are planning to use your batting cage for some serious batting practice, it would be better to buy the baseball batting cage type. These batting cages are appropriate for those who are serious baseball athletes. These players can hit a baseball really hard that is why they need much stronger and more durable netting and materials for their batting cages.

Building a Batting Cage

Building a Batting Cage
By guest author: Jason Gluckman

Batting cages are mostly used by baseball or softball coaches and players for practice. There are several types of batting cages, including indoor, outdoor, portable, and tunnel batting cages. Completely enclosed batting cages need more space. There is a simple net behind the batsman.

Weather is an important factor in choosing a batting cage. Indoor batting cages are required if the weather is bad. Portable batting cages are useful for players who frequently participate in games; they can practice any time with the portable cage.

In order to build a batting cage, one must understand its main features. The netting and frame are the two important features of a batting cage. The frame used in a batting cage is constructed with high-strength, adjustable aluminum tubes. In outdoor batting cages, the frame is coated with a special weather?resistant powder coating. Manufacturers are conducting tests with batting cage materials for strength and durability. The material used for netting should be durable enough to withstand adverse weather conditions. The net material may be chosen according to the application. The netting used is often black in color. Nylon material is used for netting in indoor batting cages. Polyethylene, high-density polyethylene, polyester Kevlar, and KVX200 are other common netting materials. Batting cage nettings now available are weather coated with polyurethane and water repellants and spray-coated with resins to ensure longer life. Construction is another factor that determines the durability of a batting cage.

Flooring is usually made of polypropylene stretchable material attached to the net. The cage entrance needs black PVC-coated chain link. Some batting cages use pitching machines, which are either coin- or token-operated pitching machines. The number of pitches in the machine can be selected. Pneumatic ball return systems automatically return the balls to the pitching machine. Read more.

Batting Cage Lighting

Batting Cage Lighting
By guest author: Jason Gluckman

Batting cages are used by softball and baseball players to improve their ability to hit the ball. Both indoor and outdoor batting cages need lighting for night practice. Indoor batting cages are used in climates where seasonal weather does not permit such activity.

Lighting fixtures have become more than just a means to gain light. They are standard equipment capable of causing significant improvement in style and performance. Lighting fixtures are available in various models, and a model that suits the batting cage can be selected. Some manufacturers of batting cages also provide lighting. Do-it-yourself kits containing electrical equipment and other accessories for batting cage lighting are also provided.

Halogen lamps are usually used for batting cage lighting. A batting cage needs distributed, bright lighting. Today, we use a technologically advanced lighting grid calculated by a computer and aligned by lasers that disperse clean, white light throughout the batting cage. Shadows are kept to a minimum and the ball is clearly seen. Indoor and outdoor batting cages need separate models as the mode of lighting differs. Read more.

Year-Round Training With Indoor Batting Cages

Year-Round Training With Indoor Batting Cages
By guest author: Pinky Savika

As with all sports, baseball and softball require constant practice for you to become the best you can be. This means being willing to train come rain or shine, so that you can constantly improve on your skills. While baseball and softball are outdoor sports, it does not mean that you always have to train outdoors. Even in bad weather, you can still push through with the training with the help of indoor batting cages.

We all know how weather can make you cancel plans like training. This is because you do not perform the same in cold weather conditions; your grip at the bat is different, and so your performance is not at par with what you want. In other cases, rain also hampers you from playing at your best.

Indoor batting cages provide players with the convenience to train indoors. This means that you can work on your skills year-round, without having to consult a weather forecast prior to training. Ever got that itch to get on with the training, but you just couldn't because the weather is not cooperating? That won't have to be a problem anymore, because now you can keep that momentum going. Some General Information About Batting Cages

Some General Information About Batting Cages
By guest author: Carmine Bailey

Have you ever heard of batting cages before? A batting cage refers to an enclosure, which is usually made of netting and looks like a cage.

To put it briefly, it is meant for baseball or softball players to improve their batting skills. If you are serious about baseball or softball, you should consider buying such a cage. It does not matter whether it is for you or your children. Such a cage happens to be a perfect training ground for those who are keen on baseball or softball.

Moreover, you can purchase cheap cages these days. If you were not thinking of playing any of the ball game seriously, a cheaper one would suffice. However, bear in mind that these cages are sold based on certain factors. One important criterion for the cost is the quality and type of netting.

A more expensive one is usually made of good quality and appropriate material so that it can last for ages. Since there is a tendency for a player to hit the netting very often while practicing, cheap netting might be torn easily. Other than the quality of netting, the size of it counts as well when it comes to pricing. There are various lengths, widths and frame lengths.

In general, there are two types of batting cages, permanent and portable. Permanent ones have fixtures to ensure that they stay fixed in one particular place. You can use one of these indoors or outdoors, even in your own backyard. Portable ones are very much convenient.

They can be set up and dismantled in an easily and quickly. You can even store any of them easily. A batting cage is sold as a standard or tunnel one. As the name implies, a tunnel one is long in length with a narrow width. In other words, it has a tubular shape. There are certain advantages to using one.

Due to its narrow width, the ball remains in a more confined area in a tunnel cage compared to a standard one. It is possible for players to hit longer distances in comparison to a standard type. A commercial company usually uses such a cage for its players. Immaterial of whether you buy a standard or tunnel type, a batting cage is very useful for baseball or softball players.

Hitting a ball may seem easy but it is not. A player has to learn proper hitting techniques and practice the techniques repeatedly. Only then, he or she might be able to achieve some semblance of being natural at hitting balls. This might require months of practice to build the necessary muscles and hit the ball more naturally.

A batting cage gives a wonderful opportunity to practice baseball or softball without having to focus or spend much energy searching for the balls. You can even improve your batting force and speed after much practice in a batting cage.

Nowadays, you can purchase a cage for batting of any type of netting, style or size in the worldwide web. You may find better bargains compared to non-virtual sporting goods store.
