The Best Batting Cage Nets to Use For Play and For Practice

The Best Batting Cage Nets to Use For Play and For Practice
By Guest Author Jack M Patterson

Batting cage nets are useful for individuals who enjoy playing baseball in their backyard, or even for professionals who need such types of equipment for their training sessions. Containing baseballs during batting practice, having a durable net will keep the balls from flying out of the enclosed area.

There are those who use chain-link fences instead of nets, thinking that this is much cheaper. While chain-link fences do cost less, they are not durable enough for batting practices. In addition, once the chains start to rust or fall out of shape, they can present a health hazard for the players. In order to have safer and more durable cages, it's best to use the standard nets.

Before purchasing a net, determine the type of material that will be best to use, the size of the grid in the net, as well as the size of the cage.

There are two types of batting cage netting that are generally used for play or for practice. The first one is made from nylon, while the other is made from polyethylene. Most professionals prefer to use nylon as it is generally a strong material and has a long life span. Since the nets will be in use for a long time, it's best to have a net that can weather the elements.

On the other hand, amateurs and even families who enjoy playing baseball in their backyard will find it best to use polyethylene nets. Batting cage nets made from this material provides more UV protection compared to nylon nets, and are also water resistant which makes them a more cost-effective option for the home, or facilities that don't require professional-grade netting.

Batting Cages - Which Cage is Right for Your Baseball Style?

Batting Cages - Which Cage is Right for Your Baseball Style?
By Guest Author Ilse Hagen

Batting cages are considered as sports facilities for practicing baseball swings. These are enclosed by nets to prevent the the balls from flying or straying off. They are convenient because they allow the batters to retrieve the balls easily. Furthermore, these cages prevent the batters from hitting bystanders, windows, and cars, therefore, preventing accidents from happening during their practice swings.

Characteristics

These cages are used by both professional and amateur batters for working on their hitting skills and to improve their accuracy and speed. Usually, the size of a typical batting cage is around 10 feet in height, 12 to 14 feet wide, and 30 to 74 feet in length.

Kinds of cages

Batting cages can be classified either for baseball or softball.

o The baseball batting cage is for fast batting speeds. They are very durable and can absorb shock. Commonly used by professional baseball players, they are designed for medium, fast, hardball, and very fast baseball with a speed ranging up to 90 miles per hour.

o The softball batting cage is for slow batting speeds and is usually used by little league baseball players because it is designed for medium, slow, or fast softball.

Choosing the right batting cage

Batting cages should be judged according to the following standards:

1. Pipes: make sure the pipes are durable and can endure any kind of weather condition.

2. Easy installation: make sure the batting cage can be easily installed in 30 minutes or less and requires at least 3 people for manpower.

3. UV treatment: the batting cage should have UV-ray treatment to protect it from the sun's harsh effects. This also prevents the cage from easily wearing out.

What You Need to Know About Batting Cage Nets

What You Need to Know About Batting Cage Nets
By Guest Author James M Peterson

Batting cage nets are used to contain baseballs in an enclosed area during batting practice or training. To ensure longer periods of baseball fun, there are specific things to consider before buying cage netting.

The first thing you should look for is strength. Look for the strongest nets that can fit into your budget. Cage nets are usually constructed from polyurethane or wound nylon which offers high breaking strengths and abrasion resistance. When choosing from a variety of options, it is recommended that you choose nets that are made of high-density and non-corrosive polyurethane fibers. Sporting accessories made of these materials will last longer and will prove to be a good investment.

Construction is the next feature to look out for when purchasing this important baseball fixture. It is important to look for netting that comes with a square net construction if you need a net that can withstand wear. Additionally, it is ideal to get a net that has a baffle net installed behind the batter, since this is the part of the net where deterioration mostly occurs. This feature provides additional safety and protection for both the batter and the net.

There are also sag-free types of nets which are hung on the square instead of draped; these kinds provide a more professional look and appearance to the batting cage.

The last thing to look for in good batting cage nets is the color. Black-colored nets provide more resistance to the ultraviolet rays of the sun. Some nets are also immersed in UV inhibitor solutions for complete UV stabilization and protection against harsh weather conditions.

Some General Information About Batting Cages

Some General Information About Batting Cages
By Guest Author Carmine Bailey

Have you ever heard of batting cages before? A batting cage refers to an enclosure, which is usually made of netting and looks like a cage.

To put it briefly, it is meant for baseball or softball players to improve their batting skills. If you are serious about baseball or softball, you should consider buying such a cage. It does not matter whether it is for you or your children. Such a cage happens to be a perfect training ground for those who are keen on baseball or softball.

Moreover, you can purchase cheap cages these days. If you were not thinking of playing any of the ball game seriously, a cheaper one would suffice. However, bear in mind that these cages are sold based on certain factors. One important criterion for the cost is the quality and type of netting.

A more expensive one is usually made of good quality and appropriate material so that it can last for ages. Since there is a tendency for a player to hit the netting very often while practicing, cheap netting might be torn easily. Other than the quality of netting, the size of it counts as well when it comes to pricing. There are various lengths, widths and frame lengths.

In general, there are two types of batting cages, permanent and portable. Permanent ones have fixtures to ensure that they stay fixed in one particular place. You can use one of these indoors or outdoors, even in your own backyard. Portable ones are very much convenient.

They can be set up and dismantled in an easily and quickly. You can even store any of them easily. A batting cage is sold as a standard or tunnel one. As the name implies, a tunnel one is long in length with a narrow width. In other words, it has a tubular shape. There are certain advantages to using one.

Due to its narrow width, the ball remains in a more confined area in a tunnel cage compared to a standard one. It is possible for players to hit longer distances in comparison to a standard type. A commercial company usually uses such a cage for its players. Immaterial of whether you buy a standard or tunnel type, a batting cage is very useful for baseball or softball players.

Hitting a ball may seem easy but it is not. A player has to learn proper hitting techniques and practice the techniques repeatedly. Only then, he or she might be able to achieve some semblance of being natural at hitting balls. This might require months of practice to build the necessary muscles and hit the ball more naturally.

A batting cage gives a wonderful opportunity to practice baseball or softball without having to focus or spend much energy searching for the balls. You can even improve your batting force and speed after much practice in a batting cage.

Nowadays, you can purchase a cage for batting of any type of netting, style or size in the worldwide web. You may find better bargains compared to non-virtual sporting goods store.

Pick up more information and tips on purchasing the ideal Batting Cage here.
